What does the Process Automation understand under Diagnosis?

Having consistent diagnosis in Process Automation brings to customers great potential saving in the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) phase. The German-based process industry end-user association NAMUR has published a recommendation, NE 107 (“Self-Monitoring and Diagnosis of Field Devices”). To follow these requirements, investigations and perspective on EtherNet/IP will be needed. This paper will go through to these requirements.
